1941 – Introduced to the American GI. In
world war II. The candy coating kept the chocolate from melting in the hand

1948 – Packaging changed from a tube to a
plastic brown sleeve

1950 – The letter “m” is stamped on the
candy – first as quality control and later as a trademark product branding
Ø
1954 – Peanut M&M is introduced and
the first commercial is made. The slogan most famous” melts in your mouth and
not in your hand” is featured

1960 – Yellow, red and green peanut
chocolate candy is introduced

1976 – The orange M&M is introduced

1980 – Chocolate M&M go global –
Canada is introduced to the candy

1982 – M&M go to space with the
astronauts

1984 – M&M becomes official chocolate
of the Los Angeles Olympic games

1995 – Over 10,000,000 people vote to
accept the blue M&M

1996 - M&M minies are introduced and people are
able to select their choice of M&M colours due to the Colourworks program

1997 – Green is introduced and the
M&M world in Las Vegas opens
